Olde Pipes Consort is located in Charleston, South Carolina, and is sponsored by Lowcountry Senior Center, an affiliate of Roper St. Francis Hospital. The players, all of whom play recorders, meet one afternoon a week to practice current Early Music selections and to take on more challenging, advanced pieces to achieve improvement in playing skills, musicality and familiarity with various composers and styles of music. The musical director and conductor is Hillyer Rudisill, III-- a lifelong resident of the Lowcountry. Members of the group are mostly retired professionals who are making music a priority in their lives. New players are welcome to join the group (with or without musical experience) or to learn the recorder in classes that the Center offers.
